The Insulted & The Injured - Chapter 3e: The Mixer PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Anonymous Assistant

The Company had a production deal with Studio X. Their social events were the best in the town. Since we had a deal with them, they decided to have a "mixer" so that the two companies could get to know each other better. It was meant for executives only. Fine by me. But the assistant to the President of Studio X had become a friend of mine. This assistant told me that she had been invited to go to the mixer (along with some of the other Studio X assistants who assisted top brass) and that she had gotten her boss's ok that I could come.

Having a good HR person is important. As an assistant, it is imperative that you feel that you can go to that person and trust them to get things done for you. I dedicate this book to everyone who has ever been an assistant in the world of entertainment, especially those who have been emotionally and/or physically abused by their boss. The tone of this is semi-humorous, but I know, and many others know, the deep psychological wounds that can be incured during this time. You are not alone.
