Where are you originally from? A small town in Massachusetts, but I’ve always been a New Yorker at heart. What’s your astrological sign? Scorpio Do you look like your avatar? Ummm- if I had a lot of plastic surgery. And Reason doesn’t condone plastic surgery. How did you become an IN writer? In order to retain my anonymity, I’ll need to refrain from answering this question. What’s your favorite movie? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, West Side Story. …TV show? Sex and the City is my all time favorite – but Lost always provides good, controversial conversation. Book? The God of Small Things, Eat, Pray, Love, Catcher in the Rye. …music? Brett Dennen, Ray Lamontagne, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder. …celebrity? Paris. JOKING DARLINGS. JOKING. How did you start writing? And how do you find ideas for your stories? I was bored at my job and started writing as a way to pass the time. And you know how I find the ideas for my column, darlings… If you weren’t writing, what would you be doing? I wish I were writing more… or sunning myself on the beach in Hawaii. To be honest, I’m not quite sure. I’m still figuring that one out. Where do you work? Don’t you wish I would tell you? How is it that some of you guys – i.e. Lisa and Kate – ended up getting such sweet jobs so quickly? What’s the secret? Know your strengths, know that the job is looking for you as much as you are looking for a job, and throw in a little luck along the way. Is Karen “Voice of Reason”? No dearhearts…I’M the Voice of Reason. You’re at work. You look up from your computer. What do you see? Is this just a ploy to get me to tell you where I work? What’s your personal mantra: It changes based on what I need to remember most in the moment. Right now it’s simply SURRENDER.
