Thank God, Famous Actress hires a publicist. Am I a little upset that these responsibilities are being "taken" from me? Maybe a little. But not a lot. The whole publicity thing made me very nervous. I knew that I was pretty good at it, but I sure wasn't a professional at it. I shouldn't be doing it. Asshole Midget tells me and Publicist to work together. Me and Publicist do just that, but the hard part of over. Awards season is over. There is some random photo shoot type stuff to put together, and Publicist puts his assistant on the case.
That is not that unusual, but if I had been the newly hired Publicist I think I would have done it myself. Assistant Publicist was a little too...overeager. Pushy. She read Famous Actress the wrong way. And Famous Actress was getting pissed because she never wanted to hire a publicist in the first place. The final straw was when Assistant Publicist made a very wrong judgment call. Famous Actress called me at home on a Saturday: "Please fix it and don't make me talk to this Assistant Publicist." It gets worked out and it isn't even that big of a deal. I smooth things over with Assistant Publicist because I don't want her to get offended. But I feel that I need to tell Asshole Midge whats going on. He calmly listens to me and tells me that I am "wrong." Ok... New Publicist and his Assistant continue to make mistakes. I try to tell them how to "read" Famous Actress. Finally, the production coordinator on the movie that Famous Actress is shooting tells her how much she dislikes the Assistant Publicist. That she likes me and would prefer to talk only to me. "And by the way," says Production Coordinator, "Assistant Publicist makes you out to be a bitchy diva." That was the final, final straw for Famous Actress. She calls Asshole Midget at home and tells him that she wants New Publicist fired. She would rather have me do all the publicity. Uh oh.
