The Insulted & The Injured - Chapter 4h: Screaming Fits # 1 & 2 PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Anonymous Assistant

Screaming Fit #1

My 2nd assistant is really good. She works hard, she works late, she is fun to be around, and she has no desire to have sex with Asshole Midget. "Helen" wants a raise and she deserves one. I approach Asshole Midget about her raise.

He asks, "Does she deserve one?"

"Yes, she's great."

"I'll take care of it."

Nothing.

Approach him again. He says, "She is going to get it. I have to bring it up with The One in the Closet."

Nothing. Holidays approaching. This is usually raise time, but still nothing for Helen.

Mid January. Helen really needs the raise; she may have to find a better paying job if she doesn't get it. I will not lose her. I bring it up again with Asshole Midget, asking him to please take care of this so that she doesn't leave. He flies into a rage, a real screaming fit:

"What are you talking about?  This is the first time I have even heard about this!"

Screaming Fit #2

I wish I could remember what the fight was about, but there were so many, and most of them were about nothing, so I don't remember the specifics. Whatever this one was about, Asshole Midget was so angry that he leaped out of his chair towards me, fist raised.  Helen (still sans raise, fyi) witnessed the entire thing and later said to me, "That was scary. I really thought he was going to hit you."

So did I.

About the Anonymous Assistant

The Anonymous Assistant works for a high level manager who has A list actors (one huge one in particular) and directors. To email him/her, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I dedicate this book to everyone who has ever been an assistant in the world of entertainment, especially those who have been emotionally and/or physically abused by their boss. The tone of this is semi-humorous, but I know, and many others know, the deep psychological wounds that can be incured during this time. You are not alone.
