The Insulted & The Injured - Chapter 5b: Sending Scripts? PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Anonymous Assistant

Asshole Midget's Colleague A has been trying to sign Well-Known Actress for a while. Asshole Midget tells A that she doesn't need to be communicating with Agent of Well-Known Actress because he already is. This surprises A.

"Yes," says Asshole Midget, "I have been sending scripts to the agent for a while now."

Basically, what Asshole Midget is telling A is that she needs to back off because he has this all taken of.

Colleague A comes to me later. "I know he is into signing Well-Known Actress but I just want to keep track of what is being done. Can you tell me what scripts you have sent to the agent?"

Well, this presents a problem. You see, Asshole Midget has not been sending scripts to the agent. In fact, he hasn't talked to the agent of Well-Known Actress in over a year. To the credit of Asshole Midget, he is right that Colleague A probably cannot sign Well-Known Actress on her own. But who is he to completely cut her out of the process?

I tell Colleague A that I have to get back to her on that. She smiles, "You haven't sent any scripts to the agent at all have you?"

You know, I could have lied and said yes, but I wasn't feeling a whole lot of kindness toward Asshole Midget lately.

I dedicate this book to everyone who has ever been an assistant in the world of entertainment, especially those who have been emotionally and/or physically abused by their boss. The tone of this is semi-humorous, but I know, and many others know, the deep psychological wounds that can be incured during this time. You are not alone.
