THE INDUSTRY NEXUS FOUNDERS:

 Mark Weathers

Born and raised in Tampa, Mark first came to LA when at 17 he won a film festival with a short about the misconceptions of High School violence. He and his family were flown out to Hollywood where his film was screened at Paramount Studios for celebs such as Steven Spielberg and Meg Ryan. He was awarded a full-scholarship and used it to get a BS in Finance from the University of Florida.

In 2005, Mark moved out to LA for good after having already interned at Fox and Miramax where he became famous for being the intern, "that got cussed out by Bob Weinstein." He quickly landed gigs with Anonymous Content, Fox and HBO while working on commercials, music videos and new media "snacks" on the side. It was during this time that Mark started Industry Nexus as a support community for people interested in working in Entertainment and poached Karen Woodward to help run the community and be Editor-in-Chief.

Recently, Mark returned from an 8 month trip where he threw underground dubstep parties in Athens, Berlin and Prague. He has a reality show in development at Authentic Entertainment, a feature horror script under option to the poker player Johnny Chan and is Writing/Directing/Producing webisodes for a Camp show he created.

Karen Woodward

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I've lived in Los Angeles since 1994. I spent (too) many years working as an assistant and am now familiar with every single job title in Hollywood.

Despite what you’ve heard, I was a good assistant, well known for yelling at bosses, stealing food out of conference rooms, having long-winded conversations while on mute, and helping other assistants cover their asses. One screw up no one discovered was the time I set up a huge client meeting only to realize that I forgot to tell the client.

I have a master’s degree in Media Studies from Syracuse University which is totally worthless, but useful in holding over people’s heads. In real life I'm a freelance writer covering television and new media, and a content writer/content manager at Booeep.com.

Despite my sarcasm and overall bad attitude, I'm a very nice person. Email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or befriend me on Linked In.
